Thank you for taking an interest in swimming at Knight High School. In the Winter/Spring of 2025 we will embark on a journey that will be both physically and mentally challenging. However, swimmers will gain tremendous benefits from this sport; such as a solid work ethic, a healthy lifestyle, and the ability to work toward difficult goals.
My name is Jeanette Hjelm, and I am the head coach of the KHS Swim Team. I have swam and been around pools since childhood, and along the way I have managed to meet some pretty incredible people in the water. You are likely to meet some of your best friends along this incredible journey. We will create countless memories with each other, from funny inside jokes to significant or serious moments that we can cherish and appreciate for years to come. The people in the pool and in your lanes will become one of your biggest support systems.They will be the ones to offer you that shoulder to cry on or help calm you down when a race doesn’t go your way; they may even be the ones to help you put on a swim cap, give you a pair of goggles you desperately need before a race, or be the emergency ride you need to get to practice.
It is safe to say that swimming is the only sport that works you to near exhaustion in nearly every practice session, but through this season, everything will help strengthen the bond between you and your teammates. This is a sport not for the weak, but for the determined and disciplined. You are no longer part of a team, but a family!
